RCMP asking for help after suspicious incident in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in Surrey are asking for your help. They are trying to identify a group of people, they claim, was involved in some suspicious activity late last month in the Clayton Heights area of the city.

RCMP say on February 23rd at about 4 a.m., witnesses told them about a suspicious incident near the intersection of 193A Street and 65th Avenue. They say a woman was helped into a dark coloured SUV by a man and the pair drove away. The vehicle was believed to be a dark grey or blue, newer model Jeep Grand Cherokee.

“It is not clear what transpired, however, it wasn’t obvious to witnesses whether the female got into the SUV voluntarily or not. There have been no reports from any victims in this case,” says Corporal Scotty Schumann.

Surrey RCMP’s General Investigation Unit has taken over the investigation. “Officers are asking that the woman or man involved please contact police to advise what transpired. Police have also canvassed the surrounding area and are appealing for any other witnesses to come forward. If you were involved in this event, we would like to hear from you to ensure your well-being,” adds Schumann.

Police still need witnesses to come forward as well. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604.599.0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477 (TIPS.)
