Whitecaps end the day a man short, lose to Toronto

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Vancouver Whitecaps are still winless after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Toronto FC on Saturday afternoon at BC Place.

Jozy Altidore set up the first goal by Victor Vazquez in the 76th minute, and then added the insurance goal himself in the 80th to salt away the victory – the first of the MLS slate for the Reds.

For the second straight week in MLS play, the Whitecaps had to finish the day one man short. Brek Shea was shown a red card in the 71st minute, as something was said to the referee.

Vancouver was without the services of standout goalkeeper David Ousted for this match – Spencer Richey held up well in his season debut, but having to play one man short opened things up for TFC, and they were able to capitalize after a slow 70 minutes to begin the match.

TFC was able to get three shots on target – Richey made a great save off Toronto’s Justin Morrow before Shea was shown the red card. Vancouver managed just one shot on goal for the day.

Vancouver (0-2-1) next plays on April 1st at BC Place against the LA Galaxy.
