Some hope for some of the 54 Vancouver Postmedia employees who received pink slips last month

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Some employees at the Vancouver Sun and Province newspapers who last month were told they were losing their jobs might not be out of work after all.

The Media Union of BC is announcing it has reached a tentative deal with Postmedia.

The union says the agreement could save a number of jobs.

Last month, 54 employees were given layoff notices, over half of them were journalists.

The union is not releasing any details, saying more information will be made available next Wednesday at a membership meeting.

Union members will need to ratify the deal before it goes into effect.
