Images released of deadly Coquitlam hit and run as family hopes for closure

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – The family of a man who was killed in a hit and run crash in Coquitlam earlier this year has come forward asking for help to find the driver responsible.

Mounties are also releasing surveillance footage and images possible vehicles believed to be involved.

Investigators say at around 8 p.m. on January 26th, 51-year-old Sidney Bolwyn was walking in the area of Austin Avenue and Walker Street when he was hit by a car.

Video analysis, crime scene reconstruction and vehicle determination techniques have led to four vehicles of interest: a mid-sized SUV that police believe is burnt orange, a grey Volkswagen Jetta, a white Mercedes GL SUV, and an unidentified smaller sedan or coupe.

“We still don’t understand how this happened to our dad,” says Bolwyn’s daughter Amanda Romp. “If the situation was reversed I would come forward to tell my story about what happened. I would want to help give that family closure.”

Police say without the help of witnesses, they really need the driver to turn themselves in and to bring Bolwyn’s family some closure. “The driver who was involved in this collision is carrying a heavy burden and police are open and interested in hearing his or her side of the story,” says RCMP Corporal Michael McLaughlin.

A special tip line has been set up for this case and anyone with information is asked to call 778.290.5346.
