Local sex offender arrested in Saskatchewan

LANGENBURG, SASK. (NEWS 1130) – A dangerous sex offender, who had been the subject of a warning by Vancouver Police earlier this week, has been arrested by Mounties in Saskatchewan.

They say 46-year-old Joseph Davis was picked up by members after someone living in Langenburg, Saskatchewan had seen the initial VPD media release and recognized the car Davis was said to be driving. Mounties were called in and he was taken into custody where he remains.

Davis was wanted after violating his long-term supervision order in Vancouver. He is convicted of assaulting a real estate agent in Winnipeg after luring her to his home back in 2007.

In 2001, he was convicted of assault causing bodily harm and forcible confinement of a female sex trade worker he invited to his home.

Davis has served a four-year sentence for sexual assault, and is serving a long-term supervision order. He has been staying at a halfway house in Vancouver.
