Classroom trouble? Blame technology: occupational therapist

By

TORONTO (NEWS 1130) – Has your teen or child ever seemed genuinely uninterested in what’s going in the classroom? An occupational therapist in Toronto says there is a definite reason why most kids are having so much trouble- technology.

Victoria Poorday says there’s no doubt parents’ hearts are in the right places.

“Parents have the best intentions, we all want to do really good for our children but the way we raise them today, we make them happy in this moment but miserable in the long run,” she says.

“I have really deep concerns for the future of this generation.”

She blames a reliance on technology-based child rearing.

“I would suggest definitely limiting technology. Children, until three years of age, shouldn’t have access to technology. They need humans around them.”

She says that will force them into social interaction.

She says training your kids in delayed gratification and setting limits, will help them focus and succeed in the future.
