COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – A pair of hikers are now safe after requesting help Saturday afternoon from Coquitlam Search and Rescue.
The two, wearing running shoes, were hiking in a snow-covered area near Mt. Beautiful and called for help, SAR manager Michael Coyle said.
A helicopter was brought in to help with the search, which was complicated by snow on the ground and steep terrain.
“People have to remember, it’s still winter up there,” Coyle said.

He also offers some advice for people who plan to hike in the mountains.
“If you hit the snow line and you’re still in runners, turn around.”
The two were cold, but there were no reports of injuries.
