VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Two people are dead and a third person is in hospital after suspected drug overdoses in East Vancouver today.
The incident forced emergency crews to block off a condo building near King Edward and Knight Street from 11:30 a.m. today.
The initial call to 911 came from a woman inside the unit where the bodies of two men were found. Vancouver Police Inspector Rob Clarke says the woman, who was also under the influence, is now being treated in hospital, but special precautions had to be taken in case the drug was fentanyl or another opioid that’s harmful even in traces amounts.
He has confirmed there’s no drug lab in the building, but says safety measures needed to be taken once investigators found drug paraphernalia in the room.
Vancouver Fire and Rescue initially described the two deaths as both sudden and suspicious,
The VPD and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the deaths.
