KAMLOOPS (NEWS 1130) – At least two people have died in a single vehicle crash on the Coquihalla Highway about 40 kilometres south of Kamloops.
The southbound vehicle hit a deer and veered off the road near the Logan Lake turnoff and ended up at the bottom of a 10 metre embankment.
It appears the pair died at the scene. A third person has very serious injuries.
The crash happened before six o’clock this morning.
A section of the highway was closed this morning, but has since reopened.
Further north in the province, the driver of a sedan has died after a head-on collision with a truck. RCMP were called to Highway 5 just after 6:30 a.m.
Initial investigations indicate that the driver of a northbound pickup truck was attempting to overtake a semi-truck, when it collided with a sedan in the southbound lane.
The driver and passenger in the pickup truck have non-life threatening injuries.
