Female passenger killed in Surrey collision

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Charges could be laid following a fatal car accident at 132 Street and 72nd Avenue in Surrey Saturday afternoon.

The female passenger in a car was killed after it collided with an SUV.

Surrey RCMP Staff Sergeant Blair McColl says the driver of the other car then took off.

“One of our general duty members came across the accident. He talked to witnesses who confirmed the SUV left the scene. Some of the witnesses followed the suspect vehicle for a short distance. With their assistance, we were able to locate the vehicle.”

McColl says not only did the driver fail to stay at the accident scene, the driver is being blamed for causing the accident.

“I can tell you we are investigating alcohol, speed and erratic driving as being possible causes of the accident at this point.”

The driver of the car in which the passenger died has non-life threatening injuries.
