Man charged in 2011 Coquitlam Centre stabbing

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – It’s been nearly six years since a man was stabbed at the Coquitlam Centre bus loop and police finally have a suspect in custody.

Tyrel Scott, 39, is charged with aggravated assault after a man was found with stab wounds near the corner of Barnet Highway and Lougheed Highway in the early morning on Dec. 15 2011.

Following a call for the public’s help in February 2012, police didn’t have enough evidence to lay charges, but the case remained open. Tips from the public led police to the arrest.

Scott is also charged with 14 other offences including keeping guns while prohibited and without a license and possession of a weapon. He remains in custody and will be in court again on July 26.
