Speed, alcohol possible factors after fiery three-car crash in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Mounties south of the Fraser River say speed and alcohol may be possible contributing factors following a three-car crash in Surrey last night.

RCMP say at about 8 p.m. they were called about a three-car crash on 64th Avenue near 127A Street where one car had overturned and it was on fire.

Investigators say a grey Toyota Forerunner, with a 22-year-old driver behind the wheel, was going westbound on 64th Avenue when it was apparently rear-ended by another that was also going in the same direction. The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to go off the road where it rolled onto its side and caught on fire.

The Chrysler 300, that police believe was responsible for the crash, continued and hit a Cadillac Escalade.

The fire department was called out to help.

The driver of the Forerunner was taken to the hospital with some minor injuries.

Everyone stuck around to speak to police.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604.599.0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS (8477).
