Deadly head-on crash in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Police in the Fraser Valley are asking for your help in connection to a deadly head-on collision on Friday night that claimed the life of one man.

Crews were called to the area of Whatcom Road and Lower Sumas Mountain Road at about 9:30 p.m. Members of Abbotsford Police, the fire department and paramedics responded to the crash between a Dodge Charger and Chevrolet Cavalier.

The Dodge Charger, with a 21-year-old man behind the wheel, was heading south and the Chevrolet Cavalier, with a 33-year-old driving, was travelling north, when they crashed.

Both men were rushed to the hospital but the driver of the Cavalier passed away overnight. The other man is still in the hospital but his injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

“APD Major Crime Detectives and Collision Reconstructionists will continue investigating this crash. All contributing factors to the fatal collision are being considered,” says APD Sergeant Judy Bird.
