Injured hiker airlifted from Mount Harvey

LIONS BAY (NEWS 1130) –  A hiker with serious injuries has been airlifted from Mount Harvey and is now in the hospital.

The woman was with a group of others on Mount Harvey near Lions Bay when she got hurt yesterday.

Lions Bay Search and Rescue led the rescue, with help from North Shore Rescue.

Mike Danks with North Shore Rescue says they were called for a longline rescue just before 6:00 p.m., but by the time a reconnaissance flight had been taken, the kit had to be returned to YVR, so the decision was made to return at first light this morning.

“So, credit goes to Lions Bay SAR, they did have members on site all night with the patient and the other four people in the party as well,” Danks says.

The group was off the west ridge of Mount Harvey.
