Pedestrian killed in Richmond

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – A 54-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in the area of Shell and Bridgeport Roads last weekend.

Police just before 6:30 p.m. on November 12th, officers were called out to the busy intersection for reports of a crash between a pedestrian and a car.

The 59-year-old driver from Surrey stuck around and tried to help the woman. He is cooperating with police.

“Neither speed, nor alcohol are contributing factors in this fatal collision. The pedestrian did not appear to have been crossing in a designated area,” says RCMP Corporal Dennis Hwang. “The Richmond RCMP would like to remind all users of our roadways to please exhibit extra caution whether driving, walking, running, or cycling,” adds Hwang. “The inclement weather and early darkness can add to an already challenging environment.”

This is Richmond’s 4th pedestrian fatality of 2017.
