VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – No arrests have been made and it’s still unclear if a Vancouver shooting that injured two men and a teenager is linked to organized crime.

“This is bad. We are concerned about how brazen this was, and this is a priority for us,” Sergeant Jason Robillard with the Vancouver Police Department says.

Police responded to reports of several shots being fired around East Broadway and Ontario Street just after 9:15 p.m. on Saturday night. When they arrived, they found two men and a teenager with injuries.

One of the men, from Vancouver, is known to police and is believed to have been the target of the shooting. He has life-threatening injuries. He’s in his 20s.

The other man, from Vancouver and in his 30s, was not a target and received minor injuries that were treated at the scene. But a 15-year-old boy from Coquitlam who was in a passing car is in the hospital with serious injuries.

No arrests have been made. Robillard isn’t saying if the shooting is linked to organized crime.

“There is an indication that there was an exchange of gunfire. However the circumstances surrounding that will form part of the investigation,” he says.

“What I can tell you is that it is rare that these kinds of things happen, and that when it does we put all our resources available to us to investigate this type of crime. This is a priority for us.”

Dozens of officers were working at the scene.

“We’re asking for anyone that may have been in the area from 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., especially if you have dash cam footage on your vehicle,” Robillard says. “(If) you witnessed, heard anything, please call us, we want every piece of evidence we can.”

If you have information that can help police, you’re asked to call 604-717-2500.
