NORTH VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The furious flow of water in rivers and creeks around the region has claimed a life.
After several hours of scouring the Lower Capilano River with helicopters and kayak teams, North Vancouver RCMP have declared the search for a missing kayaker is now a recovery mission.

The man was spotted downstream of the Capilano Suspension Bridge by RCMP members just after 3 p.m. today. North Shore Rescue says the man’s body has since been located, but the recovery has been complicated by darkness and swift water conditions.
Recovery operations have stopped for the night. Efforts will resume in the morning.
There are several warnings right now about swift currents around the region’s rivers and creeks thanks to heavy rainfall in the region.
