Richmond RCMP called in after body pulled from Fraser River

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – Mounties in Richmond say a man in his 70s has died after being pulled from the Fraser River.

Officers responded to the area of Dyke Road between Gilbert and No. 3 Roads just before 8 a.m. Saturday for reports a man was in the water.

Once pulled from the Rriver, investigators say the man was treated at the scene and taken to hospital, but died shortly after. His death is being treated as suspicious.

“The Richmond RCMP Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) is taking the lead in this investigation. Investigators will be continuing their examination of area around the 7000 block of River Rd for any clues surrounding this incident,” says Corporal Dennis Hwang.

Mounties are looking to the public for help, and ask that anyone who may have been in the area Saturday morning contact investigators.

“We are asking for the public’s assistance for any information regarding this incident. If someone drove, cycled, or walked in this area and noticed anything around the morning of March 10th, please contact our Serious Crimes Unit.”
