Possible impaired driving charges after Stanley Park Causeway crash

WEST VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A Delta man has been handed a 90-day Administrative Driving Prohibition after a crash shut down part of the Stanley Park Causeway early this morning.

Police say impaired driving may have played a role in the collision, which also left the driver with a 24-hour driving prohibition.

According to West Vancouver Police, an officer spotted a vehicle driving south off the Lions Gate Bridge around midnight at high speeds.

“No pursuit was initiated,” a release reads.

It was shortly after that police say the same car crashed with two other vehicles driving in the same direction, before then crashing into a guard railing as well as the pedestrian and cycling path.

“The driver fled but was found and apprehended by Vancouver Police officers a short distance away,” police say. “Two passengers were found in the vehicle with minor injuries. Fortunately there were no injuries reported among occupants of the two other vehicles.”

Along with driving prohibitions, police say the 20-year-old has been released on a promise to appear at North Vancouver Provincial Court on July 11th.

Investigators are going to be recommending charges of Impaired Driving and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
