Update on Humboldt Broncos bus crash investigation expected today

By

It’s been nearly two weeks, but we still haven’t heard much from the RCMP about the fatal bus crush involving the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team in Saskatchewan.

But that’s about to change.

RCMP are set to hold a news conference, where it’s expected more details of the investigation into the April 6 crash will be shared.

Sixteen people died after the team bus collided with a transport truck near Tisdale, Saskatchewan. The truck driver walked away from the crash with no major injuries.

A statement from the RCMP released late Wednesday says Asst. Commissioner Curtis Zablocki, the commanding officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP, will not be announcing any charges related to the crash.

Police also say they will only be answering general questions from the media about the collision.

The update comes a day after the GoFundMe page, which was raising money for victims and their families, closed. It raised more than $15 million.

Today’s news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Pacific. NEWS 1130 will bring you the latest details.
