Murderer captured after going missing from Mission facility

MISSION (NEWS 1130) – An 83-year-old murderer who escaped from the Mission Institute earlier Wednesday morning, has been captured by Mounties.

The Correctional Service of Canada issued a warning saying Ralph Whitfield Morris was unaccounted for during the daily count at the prison’s minimum security unit. Several hours later, the agency tweeted that he had been arrested.

Morris is currently serving a life sentence for second-degree murder, and has a lengthy criminal history.

He’s escaped from police custody before with the most recent incident happening in 2011, when he violated his parole in Kamloops, making him the subject of a Canada-wide arrest warrant.
