VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Investigators on the other side of the country say police in Vancouver have helped them nab a murder suspect who had been wanted nation-wide for over a week.

On Apr. 24, the Toronto Police Service issued the Canada-wide arrest warrant for 27-year-old Joshua Bewley following the murder of 23-year-old Joel Newby on Apr. 21.

This past Wednesday, the VPD arrested him.

The man will now be extradited to Toronto to face charges. The TPS previously said Bewley was wanted for first-degree murder.

The victim, who was believed to be the intended target, was stabbed at an apartment building in Scarborough. He died at the scene.
