Fatal crash shuts down Highway 1 east of Bridal Falls

HOPE (NEWS 1130) – One person has died after a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 1 just east of Bridal Falls that closed the highway for nearly 12 hours, Mounties confirm.

In a tweet, BC Emergency Health Services says two people were taken to hospital by air ambulance in critical condition.

“The information that we have is that an eastbound vehicle crossed into the westbound lane,” says RCMP Inspector Vishal Mathura.

The person who died was a passenger in the westbound vehicle. The two people airlifted to Royal Columbia Hospital were the drivers.

The highway was completely re-opened to traffic just before 11 Saturday night.
