VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – In this spirit of giving back, thousands of Rogers workers will be lending a helping hand across the country this weekend.

From reaching out to donors and thanking them for their contributions to rolling up their sleeves at Sharing Farm, volunteers are taking part in a number of different activities here in Vancouver as well.

“I decided to volunteer because I like to be involved with the community, and anytime we can get involved with initiatives that take care of the people that support us, we always want to give back,” Jawn Jang with Sportsnet 650 explains. “So I’m always happy to do that.”

Jang will be at on Saturday at Canuck Place where volunteers will be doing some work around the gardens and hospice grounds.

“It’s a great thing to do, together as a team for Rogers,” Corbet Rutzer with Jack FM adds. “Give back in Vancouver, do something. I want to get rid of plastic straws, it’s like a life goal of mine. So I get to do beach cleanup, perfect.”

Volunteers will also be helping out the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and YMCA of Greater Vancouver.

Give Together Volunteer days runs on June 2 and 3 and is a way for Rogers to come together as one organization to give back. The company has partnered with 50 local community organizations across Canada.

More than 2,000 workers are expected to take part.

Rogers is the parent company of NEWS 1130.
