Two teens killed in Surrey shooting

By

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Homicide investigators have confirmed the two people killed in last night’s shooting in Surrey were teenagers.

Police were called to the rural area of 40th Avenue between 192nd and 184th Streets just after 10:30 p.m. for reports two bodies had been found.

“When officers arrived, they found two unresponsive males lying roadside with gunshot wounds,” IHIT says in a release. “The victims were declared deceased at the scene and IHIT took conduct of the investigation.

The victims have been identified as 16-year-old Jaskarn “Jason” Singh Jhutty and 17-year-old Jaskaran “Jesse” Singh Bhangal.

Shortly before Mounties were alerted to the bodies, at around 9:45 p.m., police responded to reports of a burning vehicle in the area of 184 Street and 29A Avenue. Then, another burning vehicle — described as a Honda Accord — was reported at 11:00 p.m. in the area of 177 Street and 93 Avenue.

Investigators are making a plea to the public.

“We believe there are people who have information about these two homicides,” says IHIT Corporal Frank Jang.

“Please reach out and speak with IHIT so that we can hold those responsible to account.”

No arrests have been made, and IHIT believes this was a targeted incident.

Witness describes hearing ‘firecrackers’

Brian Randall was just finishing putting his tools away for the day when he heard what he describes as a string of firecrackers.

“But when those two cars went roaring by there, I was wondering. But I’d never thought much of it though because I wasn’t expecting.”

He managed to catch a glimpse of both of them, but it was quite dark. He describes one as a souped-up Dodge sedan or coup.
