British Columbians want province to investigate money laundering at casinos: poll

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It looks like you want to get to the bottom of money laundering at local casinos.

A poll out this morning shows more than 70 per cent of British Columbians think it would be a good idea for the provincial government to launch an inquiry into the scandal.

Mario Canseco with Research Co. (COH) says it has the support of voters from all three major political parties.

“I don’t think it’s necessarily a scenario where they want to be vindictive against those who choose those decisions but they want to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” he says.

“It’s not a situation here where the Liberals are a little bit tentative here on this issue because they don’t want to see their party hurt. they also want to know what happened and who let it happen.”

Canseco says the survey also shows most of us don’t want to see any new casinos built until the provincial government is confident it has a handle on the problem.
