New Westminster teacher going for fourth straight Jeopardy! win

NEW WESTMINSTER (NEWS 1130) – A lot of students and staff at Guildford Park Secondary in Surrey are keeping a close eye on Jeopardy!

Teacher Ali Hassan has won three straight games and is going for his fourth tonight. Hassan says getting on the iconic game show was as easy as doing an online test.

“And then if your name is drawn, you get invited to an audition. I was invited originally, it was in Seattle,” He tells NEWS 1130. “They do another test, they interview you, you play a couple of mock games and then they put your name in the hat and if your name comes up they invite you to the show.”

Considering his students knew he was on the show, there was a lot of pressure to do well.

“I thought that while I was there and I was just thinking to myself I have to at least win one game,” he says. “But if I don’t, the students will never let me forget it.”

Going into tonight’s show, Hassan had won more than $67,000.
