Few details after 10-year-old boy is shot in Maple Ridge

MAPLE RIDGE (NEWS 1130) – A young boy is in the hospital after he was shot on Thursday afternoon.

It happened at 3:40 p.m. on 110 Avenue near 240 Street. The boy was taken to the hospital, but there are no details on his condition.

Mounties haven’t shared any details about what happened like how he was shot or where on his body he was hit, but are calling this an “isolated incident.”

“Due to privacy we do not provide comment on a victim’s personal medical condition. Investigators are still putting together the pieces of the puzzle. The reason for our release is to confirm the incident took place and to seek witness input. I’m sorry but I have no other details from the investigators to share with you at this time,” says Clint Van Blanken with Ridge Meadows RCMP.

They don’t believe there is any threat to public safety.

There’s no word on any arrests.
