Man dies after falling from truck leaving Canada Day parade

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – An elderly man has died after he fell off the back of a pick-up truck leaving the Canada Day procession and was hit by a trailer it was pulling.

It happened around 12:45 p.m. in the area of Simon Avenue and Gladwin Road.

Abbotsford Police say the man, whose identity is not being released at this time, was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.

The case is now being investigated by police, General Investigation Officers and Collision Reconstructionists.

The driver of the pick-up truck is said to be cooperating with investigators.

“We offer our condolences to the family and friends of the man killed in this tragic accident,” the APD says in a release.
