Congratulations to NEWS 1130’s recipient of a Ted Rogers Scholarship!

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – Emma J. of Coquitlam has been recognized as a shining young leader in Canada and is the recipient of $1,000 towards education, as part of the Ted Rogers Scholarship Fund.
Nominated by Robert W., Emma is highly regarded in the Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band, which is part of the SFU Pipe Band organization.
“[Emma] raised $8,200 in corporate donations to help keep fees low, mentored younger players, organized team building activities and [gave] hundred of hours of her time performing at community events, fundraisers, seniors’ facilities,” says Robert.
“[Emma] does all this while also volunteering for other community organizations and achieving an outstanding GPA.”
A total of 150 scholarships are awarded every year. The scholarships are reserved for students already involved with Rogers’ community partner organizations.
