Duchess Kate makes third time a charm in cream Alexander McQueen at Prince Louis’ christening

Duchess Kate was all smiles as she stepped out with Prince William for the first time as a family of five at their son Prince Louis‘ baptism on Monday (July 9) at St. James’s Palace. Looking radiant as she carried her third child, asleep in her arms while clad in his storied christening gown, the proud mom kept with her sartorial tradition as she turned up in a cream Alexander McQueen ensemble and a Jane Taylor headpiece.
Unlike her previous christening looks, Kate slipped into a dress this time, featuring embellished shoulders and a v neckline. She also traded the beret-style hats she’s worn in the past for more an oversized headband, embellished with flowers on top and worn over a chic chignon. The royal wore large clustered pearl earrings to finish the look and kept her makeup simple with a smoky eye, rosy cheeks and light berry lips. Princess Charlotte looked precious in a blue dress and matching headband while Prince George sported a short-sleeved white shirt and navy shorts.
The duchess dazzled in a cream Alexander McQueen creation at Princess Charlotte‘s christening in 2015. She paired the pretty dresscoat, which featured a large lapel, with floral-embellished hat by Jane Taylor and a pair of matching patent pumps. Kate looked radiant as she pushed the vintage Millson pram that her grandmother-in-law the Queen used in the 1950s for her sons Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
While it was widely reported that the 36-year-old recycled the look from her daughter’s christening at Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May, eagle-eyed fans noted subtle differences. The coat dress was actually a very pale yellow at her brother-in-law’s nuptials, not cream, and the sleeves on the wedding look had buttons.
Clearly her go-to hue, Kate also wore cream at Prince George‘s baptism in 2013. The stunning Alexander McQueen skirt suit boasted a beautiful ruffle down the front of the jacket and around the waist. Once again, she anchored the look with a coordinated pump in patent leather. Her woven Jane Taylor hat had a large flower and netting on one side. The Duchess of Cambridge took the gorgeous look out of storage in the summer of 2016 for one of the Queen’s famous garden parties at Buckingham Palace, though this time she wore a nude pump.
Kate has proven time and again that Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen is her go-to designer, from her spectacular wedding gown to many of the looks she’s worn for milestone events in her life. It’s truly a match made in heaven!
