PEMBERTON (NEWS 1130) – A CN freight train carrying wood products derailed about 25 kilometers north of Pemberton Wednesday afternoon.
CN staff say the incident took place around 4:15 p.m.
In an email to NEWS 1130, staff confirm there were no injuries. The company also says no dangerous goods were involved, noting there’s no danger to the public or the environment.
Photos on social media show some of the train cars partially submerged on Gates Lake.
“While we do not have a timeline for how long [cleanup] will take, crews will be working overnight and into Thursday,” read an email from the company.
The cause of the incident is still unknown. CN says an investigation has been launched.
