VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall notice for some types of berry mixes.
The recall is for Europe’s Best brand Field Berry Mixes, which the health authority explains is because of a risk of Salmonella contamination.
The recall applies to products with the following codes:
Brand Name | Common Name | Size | Code(s) on Product | UPC |
---|---|---|---|---|
Europe’s Best | Field Berry Mix | 600 g | 2020MA03 2020MA04 2020MA10 2020MA11 |
8 71454 03618 7 |
Europe’s Best | 4-Field Berry Mix | 2 kg | 2020MA02 | 8 71454 00200 7 |
You’re warned not to consume any of the products. If you have them in your home, you should either try to return them where you bought them from or throw them in the garbage.
Anyone who may have gotten sick from eating the mixed berries should contact a doctor.
According to the CFIA, this recall was triggered by another one in a different country.
“Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” the CFIA’s website reads.
It warns young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those who may have weakened immune systems could get serious — and sometimes deadly — infections. If you are considered a healthy person, short-term symptoms may include a fever, headache, vomiting, nausea or cramping. “Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.”
There haven’t been any reported illnesses in relation to the Field Berry Mixes.
