Goldfish crackers recalled in Canada due to salmonella risk

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – There is a voluntary recall on Goldfish Flavour Blasted Xtreme Cheddar Crackers due to a possible Salmonella contamination.

The recall from Campbell Company of Canada was triggered by one in the U.S.

Stateside, Pepperidge Farm has recalled four varieties, after one of its ingredient suppliers said whey powder used in a seasoning may be contaminated.

No illnesses have been reported.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says food contaminated with Salmonella might not look or smell spoiled, but it can still make you sick.

“Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis,” it says on its website.
