Trevor Linden, Canucks part ways

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Trevor Linden and the Vancouver Canucks have decided to part ways.

The team made the announcement that Linden was leaving his role as President of Hockey Operations Wednesday afternoon. He had the position for four years.

“Trevor Linden leaves the organization to pursue different endeavours after serving four years as President, Hockey Operations where he oversaw all hockey operations areas, including coaching, scouting, player development, and minor league affiliations and operations,” read a release from the Canucks.

In the release, managing partner Francesco Aquilini said the team was entering an “exciting new era.” He thanked Linden for his accomplishments and his hard work.

Aquilini said General Manager Jim Benning will “continue the momentum in the months ahead.”

In a release, Linden said it was a “difficult day.” He said he’s very optimistic about the direction the team is headed.

“I love this city and this province, and I will always have a special relationship with this team and Cancuks fans,” he wrote.

He finished his statement by thanking everyone for their support.
