Body of third person recovered after float plane went down after take-off west of Lillooet

LILLOOET (NEWS 1130) – RCMP say another body has been discovered after a small float plane went down in a lake west of Lillooet on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. at Tyaughton Lake in Gold Bridge. The plane plunged into the lake shortly after take-off.

RCMP say when officers arrived, a 20-year-old man from Prince George, who was a passenger of the plane, was already dead.

The pilot, a 20-year-old man from Williams Lake managed to make it out of the wreckage on his own. He was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and then shortly after noon on Thursday, the body of the third man, a 29-year-old from Aldergrove, was discovered.

“The body… has been recovered by the BC RCMP Underwater Recovery Team and the investigation has been turned over to the Transportation Safety Board and the BC Coroners Service,” says Staff Sergeant Annie Linteau in a news release.
