House fire doused in East Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Crews have knocked down a house fire in East Vancouver.

The fire broke out around 9 a.m. at a home on E. 3rd Avenue just east of Rupert Street.

The smoke could be seen from several parts of the region. Chris Horne sent us this video:

“Crews arrived on scene and found a two-storey house with flames coming out of the upper-floor windows,” says Assistant Fire Chief Dan Strout.

It’s unclear if anyone was at home when the flames broke out. But Strout says no one was hurt.

“There’s extensive damage to the first and second floor,” he explains.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
