Man drowns at Buntzen Lake

COQUITLAM (NEWS 1130) – A man in his 40s has drowned at Buntzen Lake.

Coquitlam RCMP say they received the call just before 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

The body was recovered last night.

“There is no foul play suspected in this, it’s just an unfortunate accident,” Staff Sgt Tony Porato said.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Last month a 19-year-old drowned in the same area.

Porato added the lake is very deep, noting people should be careful when going swimming away from the shore. He says people who aren’t strong swimmers should always wear a personal floatation device and be aware of their surroundings.
