Man facing 7 charges in Sunday bomb threat incident in Surrey

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Two days after a bomb threat shut down a restaurant in Surrey, RCMP are now providing more information.

On Sunday, just before 6 p.m., Mounties were called to the business at King George Boulevard and 96th Avenue for reports of a man threatening to cause harm. The building was evacuated and when officers confirmed everyone was safe, they went in and arrested the suspect without incident.

After searching the property and the man in question, no weapons or explosives were found.

Mohammed Shalmeen Gafoor, 43, has been charged with one count of public mischief, three counts of uttering threats, and three counts of unlawful confinement.

Police say there were no injuries as a result of Sunday’s events.
