VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Nearly 100 modular homes just approved by Vancouver city council will be in a spot currently used to host special events and film shoots.
The temporary units–including six wheelchair accessible suites–are set to go up on Cambie Street between Georgia and Dunsmuir.
That land has designated to be the home of the new Vancouver Art Gallery five years ago, but all 98 modular homes–which are each 320-square feet–are expected to be gone by the time construction starts.
They’re part of a $66-million promise by the BC government to build 600 new homes in Vancouver.
