Man killed in crash involving car-share vehicle in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A man is dead after the car-share vehicle he was driving crashed in Vancouver early this morning.

The man was behind the wheel of a “Modo” car that heading south on Arbutus St. At about 3 a.m., he lost control and slammed into a retaining wall near W. 33rd Ave.

The 30-year-old Burnaby man died at the scene.

There was one passenger in the newer-model, white Nissan Versa. The 32-year-old Langley man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police believe the driver was speeding at the time of the crash.

Arbutus St. was closed between W. 32 Ave. and Quilchena Cres. for over seven hours. The route has since re-opened to traffic.

This is Vancouver’s eighth traffic fatality of 2018.
