Man arrested after police say he kicked car, stole phone, threatened two people

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – One man has been arrested after a tense situation in Abbotsford Saturday morning.

According to police, two people in a vehicle pulled up and parked in front of a home in the area of Clearbrook and Fir just after 8:00 a.m.

“Without provocation, a male came out of his house, started yelling that they could not park there and began kicking their vehicle, threatened to shoot them, and then grabbed one of their cellphones,” Abbotsford Police Constable Jody Thomas tells NEWS 1130. “This male then returned to his residence.”

Thomas says officers along with the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service were able to contain the home. A negotiator was brought in who made a call into the residence.

“A male then exited the residence and was taken into custody,” she adds.

The 36-year-old is known to police. Thomas says the man is facing charges of robbery and uttering threats.

It’s not believed the two people in the vehicle and man know each other.
