Man charged in connection with multi-vehicle crash involving stolen pick-up

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A 50-year-old man has now been charged after a multi-vehicle crash on Main Street at Prior Saturday afternoon.

Vancouver Police say Crown Counsel has approved the charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from a peace officer, failure to stop at an accident, and possession of stolen property against Andrew Barry Dollman.

Police say an officer tried to pull over a suspected stolen pick-up truck on Main Street near Pender just after 5:00 p.m. on Aug. 25.

The driver reportedly chose not to comply, despite the officer using their lights and sirens to pull them over, and sped off south down Main Stree.

“Out of concern for public safety, the officers made the decision not to pursue the truck,” the VPD says.

Shortly after, the truck crashed with a Ford Focus blocks away before bouncing into a number of parked cars.

The driver and his passenger were both arrested. The 37-year-old woman has not been charged, police say.

Both were taken to hospital along with two others with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are hoping to speak with anyone who may have been in the area who witnessed the crash. They’re also looking for anyone who was driving in the area of Main Street and Prior with dash-cam footage at the time of the crash to get in touch with them.

You can contact the VPD at 604.717.3012 or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477 with any information.
