Humboldt Broncos to play first game since deadly bus crash

EDMONTON – It will be an emotional night in northwestern Alberta.

The Humboldt Broncos play their first game since the devastating bus crash that killed 16 members of the team back in early April.

The Broncos are playing a preseason game tonight against the Whitecourt Wolverines in Peace River, which is also the hometown of Bronco’s head coach Darcy Haugan, who was one of the victims of the April 6th bus crash.

Haugan spent 12 years coaching Peace River’s North Peace Navigators.

Ten players were killed in the deadly crash.

The Broncos will then take on Grande Prairie on Sunday before returning home for their season opener on September 12th.
