FlipOut Expo comes to a bigger venue in Yaletown

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Whether you’re a flipper freak, a pinball wizard, or just like flashing lights and loud noises, this is the event for you.

In its third annual installment, the FlipOut Expo has graduated from the Holiday Inn to a bigger venue at Yaletown’s Roundhouse Community Centre.

Organizer Tommy Floyd says the added space lets them display more machines than ever before, and the tournament is fielding a larger field of competitors than in years past, too.

“This tournament, this year, has just got a cross-section from all over,” Floyd tells NEWS 1130. “We’ve got people coming from Europe, we’ve got people coming from California, Illinois, a big contingency from Seattle; lots of great players.”

There are more than 100 machines on display as well, including tables devoted to Dead Pool and Pirates of the Caribbean, the latter has a 27 inch display. Prize money is also included.

“We’re looking over $10,000 in prizes throughout the weekend,” Floyd says.”We’ve also go tournament plaques and trophies for every division, including the main and the novice divisions, the classic and the novice classic, as well as the women’s tournament.”
