Two hikers missing in Lions Bay found safe

LIONS BAY (NEWS 1130) – Lions Bay Search and Rescue says two missing hikers have been found safe.

Crews activated the search at about 7 a.m. on Wednesday after the two women were reported missing overnight by their parents.

“They apparently, it’s to be confirmed by police, they walked into our landing zone area in Lions Bay,” says Lions Bay SAR manager Martin Colwell. “It sounds like they may have been picked up from the highway somewhere and then taken to our operations base.”

He says the 19-year-olds do not seem to be injured.

At the height of the search, there were about 20 crew members looking for the teens.

Coquitlam SAR was also called to assist Lions Bay SAR.

It was believed the pair could be in the area around the Lions Trail, which is just above Lions Bay.

There are still no details as to why the pair got lost.
