Search for Surrey murder suspect expands to Alberta

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – The search for a dangerous murder suspect that started in Surrey has been expanded to Alberta.

Surrey homicide investigators are urging people to be on the lookout for Brandon Teixeira who has been charged with first degree murder and is considered dangerous.

Teixeira is described as Caucasian, 5-foot-10 man with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a snake tattoo on the left side of his chest and a sleeve tattoo on his left arm.

Cpl. Frank Jang says that Texeira knows people in the Edmonton and Calgary areas, and asks those who live there to be on the lookout for him.

“It is imperative that we find him, that we bring him in,” he said. “Our investigators and our partners are out there looking for him. They are putting themselves in harm’s way. We believe that Mr. Texeira is a danger to the public who may have access to weapons.”

Jang said there was an unsuccessful attempt to arrest Sept. 5 in the Country Woods area of Surrey.

“Essentially we have a man who’s has been charged with murder out somewhere in the community, and so we need to apprehend him as soon as possible to hold him to account for his charge,” said Cpl. Frank Jang with IHIT.

The victim was found by police with gunshot wounds and later died in the hospital. Just after the shooting, police recovered a vehicle in Langley after it was set on fire.

Police are asking the public to call 911 immediately if they have information on his whereabouts. They can also call 1-877-551-IHIT (4448), email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca, or call Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) to leave an anonymous tip.
