Unclear if suspicious death in Richmond targeted or random: IHIT

RICHMOND (NEWS 1130) – Investigators are still trying to figure out who may be responsible for the death of a 37-year-old man in Richmond.

Michael Thompson’s body was found in an abandoned home located around Garden City Road and Odlin Road just after 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Thompson’s death was deemed suspicious, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called in.

“The investigation is in its early stages and it is unknown if this incident was targeted,” IHIT’s Corporal Frank Jang says. “IHIT is releasing Mr. Thompson’s name to garner information from the community regarding his activities leading up to his death.”

The Richmond man was known to police, but it’s unclear what the circumstances around his death are.

Homicide investigators say an autopsy is goin gto be done to determine the cause of detah.
