Teenager named one of the Top 10 VR influencers in 2018

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Sabarish Gnanamoorthy says that virtual reality technology is not only for video gaming, rather he wants to see it used in helping people with cost of living, transportation and inequality issues.

Gnanmoorthy, at 15 years old, is the youngest person ever to be sponsored by tech giant Microsoft to develop virtual and augmented reality games and applications. That sponsorship is shaping his vision of a different world.

“I live in Toronto and all the rest of my family — like my grandparents — are all in India and I don’t get to see them very often,” he tells CityNEws Vancouver.

“When you see how I can do that in a virtual reality, I can get there in a split of a second and using haptic technology I can feel like I’m in front of them.”
