Largest cruise ship to-date to dock in Vancouver

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Vancouver will be welcoming the largest cruise ship to-date this Sunday along with thousands of passengers.

The Norwegian Bliss will arrive at Canada Place on Sept. 30.

The 168,000 tonne and 333 meters-long ship is the largest cruise ship to ever come through the Port of Vancouver.

The ship has the capacity to accommodate almost 6,000 people. It will pick up passengers in Vancouver and start its journey from Victoria to Los Angeles.

But the Norwegian Bliss won’t be the only ship docking in Vancouver this weekend, three other cruise ships are expected to arrive at the ship terminal.

“The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority encourages travellers and locals to plan ahead to prepare for crowds and increased traffic in surrounding areas,” read a release from the Port of Vancouver.

A total of 16,000 passengers are expected at the post this weekend.
